How to make the 4th of July jello shot Recipe
On the stove, heat 1 cup of lemon/lime soda or water.
While this is heating up, prep the red and blue alcohol mixtures into two separate bowls.
Red: 3/4 cup of Vanilla Vodka. Add desired amount of Strawberry Puree for color and sweetness.
Blue: 3/4 cup Coconut rum & blue curacao for color. Add desired amount of pineapple juice for sweetness.
Once the soda/water is heated, add 1 1/2 oz of unflavored jello and whisk until dissolved.
Once dissolved, let the soda/water jello mix cool a little, then pour half of the jello mix into the blue alcohol mix and the other half into the red alcohol mix and whisk it up.
Cover both the red and blue mixtures and set in fridge for 3-4 hours to harden.
After the blue and red jellos have hardened, bring them out of the fridge and break them up with a spoon.
Next, spoon both colors into soufflé cups filling about half way.
Now we are going to make our white jello.
Measure 1 cup of soda/water and sprinkle in a bit of horchata powder and whisk together to create the white look.
Transfer the soda/water/horchata mixture to the stove and heat.
Once heated add 1 1/2 oz of unflavored gelatin and whisk until dissolved.
White: 1 cup coconut rum and vanilla vodka
Add your horchata jello mix into the alcohol mix and whisk to combine.
Let the white jello cool a little bit and then pour into the souffle cups. If the jello is too hot all the colors will melt into each other.
Then, place the souffle lids on and put all the jello shots in the fridge for another 3-4 hours to harden.
Perfectly enough, the colors do separate after they harden so you will get a layered look with the red, white, and blue colors.
Cheers and happy 4th of July!
