My sister-in-law recently had a baby shower and she asked me if I could make a mocktail recipe for the party. I love getting my creative juices flowing and being involved in such a special event, so of course I was up for the challenge.
Sometimes mocktail recipes can be tricky to create because if you’re not careful it can easily seem like you are just drinking juice.
I wanted to come up with a light and refreshing mocktail that was a bit more sophisticated and still had depth of flavor. Basically I wanted to the mocktail to have complexity to the point where people are asking, “Are you sure there’s no alcohol in this?” And of course my answer would be, “No there’s no alcohol.”
Long story short, this fabulous mocktail has flavors of cucumber, basil, honey, and lime and it checks all the boxes of a great balanced mocktail.
This mocktail is called the Baby Bump, so let’s get into it!
Baby Bump Mocktail Recipe
In a shaking tin
1/2 oz honey syrup
1 oz lime juice
1 1/2 oz cucumber juice (or 4-5 muddled cucumber coins)
2 basil leaves
Add ice and shake
Strain into a rocks glass with ice
Top with a non alcoholic sparkling rose (I used TOST white tea sparkling rose, which is super delicious on it’s own as well. I was able to pick it up from my local liquor store)
Garnish: cucumber and basil
Cheers!
alcoholic version
In a shaking tin
2 oz gin
2 basil leaves
1 oz cucumber
1/2 oz lime
