These are the ingredients you will need to make pumpkin spice simple syrup.
- Pumpkin Puree: You can use canned pumpkin puree, just make sure it’s not pumpkin pie mix.
- Pumpkin Spice Spices: cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg (you can also use premade pumpkin spice. I personally like the fresher spices. If you choose to use the premade spice mix you can skip toasting the spices.
- Vanilla
- Salt
- Granulated Sugar
- Brown Sugar
How to make the syrup
This recipe is a smaller quantity, if you want to make a big batch just scale the measurements up to your needs.
Toast one thickly broken cinnamon stick and eight cloves in a pot on medium heat.
Once you smell the fragrance of the spices, add 1/2 cup of water.
Cover the pot and bring the heat down to a simmer. Let it simmer until you notice the color of the water changes.
Turn the heat back up to medium.
Add 3 tablespoons of pumpkin puree, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla, grated nutmeg and whisk.
Add 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1/4 cup of brown sugar and whisk.
When the sugar is completely melted turn off the heat.
Add a pinch of salt & whisk.
When the syrup has cooled, strain off the spices and bottle up the syrup.
