This year for Valentine’s Day I created a cocktail using a strawberry shortcake crumble as the garnish.
This post is all about showing you how to make that super easy garnish. It literally takes less than 10 minutes!
All you need is 3 ingredients, so let’s jump right in!

What you need
Golden oreos: You need the golden oreos specifically because the golden color keeps the classic strawberry shortcake crumbles aesthetic.
Freeze-dried strawberries: You definitely want to use dried strawberries versus fresh strawberries to ensure the garnish will last longer.
Melted Butter: This will help keep the mixture combined.
Muddler: The muddler helps smash the crumble.
Ziplock bag: This will keep the oreos and strawberries contained.
Cutting board (optional): This is optional but I prefer making the crumble over a cutting board rather than on my counter top.
Here’s the cocktail that uses the crumble!

How to make the Strawberry Shortcake crumble
Fill the ziplock bag with oreos and freeze dried strawberries.

You can make as much or as little of the crumble as you’d like, so there’s no real measurement for any of the ingredients.
Place the ziplock bag filled with strawberries and oreos on the cutting board.

Using a muddler, smash the oreos and strawberries into very small pieces. You may need to shuffle the bag around to ensure all pieces are getting smashed.
Add in some melted butter and stir to incorporate the strawberries and oreos together (again the measurement is up to you and how big your batch is. I used about 2 tablespoons for this recipe, but as long as you don’t drench the mixture you should be fine).

Here’s how I used this crumble as a Cocktail garnish
Using a dish, rim your glass with some type of sticky ingredient. I used strawberry syrup in this example.
Then, dip your rimmed glass in the strawberry syrup and then follow behind with the shortcake crumble.

Give it a couple taps to remove excess crumble, and your all set!
