Cane Sugar: This will add the sweet element to make balanced cocktails
Water: You need water to better incorporate the sugar into your cocktails. Only using regular granulated sugar will just sink to the bottom of your drink.
Pot: You need something to make the syrup in.
Mixing Spoon: You need something to stir the mixture.
Container: You’ll need to store your excess syrup in some type of container after you’re done making cocktails.
How to make Simple Syrup for cocktails
Making simple syrup is incredibly simple (pun intended)!
The best parts about it is that you only need two ingredients and their measurements are equal parts.
For this post I will be making a small quantity of 1 cup total of simple syrup, which means I’m going to measure 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar.
First, pour the 1/2 cup of water into your pot and bring to a boil.
Once boiled, add in your 1/2 cup of sugar and turn down the heat.
Stir the mixture until you see all the sugar has dissolved.
Then, turn off the heat and let cool.
Once cooled, pour your excess syrup into a container for storage.
How to use this Simple syrup recipe
Now that you have this freshly made simple syrup, you can use it in cocktails like an Old Fashioned or Daiquiri. You can also use it in other beverages like coffee or lemonade, really anything your heart desires.
Simple syrup can be stored in the fridge for up to one month.
