To me, the Sidecar cocktail is one of the first cocktails I think of when it comes to the topic of classic cocktails. It is a simple build with uncomplicated ingredients and is still able to put a smile on people’s faces time and time again.
This cocktail tends to be on the drier side since the original recipe only includes cognac, orange liqueur, and lemon juice. The only sweetness in the original cocktail comes from the sugar rim.
I personally prefer a touch simple syrup in my sidecar, so I left both options in the recipe below for you to decide what your preference is.
But without further or do, let’s make the Sidecar!
Sidecar Cocktail Recipe
Start off by rimming a coupe glass with sugar
In a shaking tin
3/4 oz cointreau
3/4 oz lemon juice
1 1/2 oz cognac
(optional: 1/2 oz simple syrup, adjust cointreau to 1/2 oz)
Add & ice & shake
Strain into the coupe glass
Cheers!
