What is orgeat syrup?

I’ll be honest, orgeat is a really odd name when you hear it for first time.

In simple terms, orgeat is an almond infused syrup that you typically see used in lot of tiki style cocktails.

There are a ton of ways to make orgeat, but I personally find this is the easiest ways to really get that almond flavor to come through.

So let’s learn how to make orgeat syrup.

Add slivered almonds to a pot. Just enough almonds to slightly cover the bottom. On medium heat, stir and toast the almonds until they have browned. You need to keep a close eye while browning to make sure they don’t burn.

Once the almonds have browned, add in 1/2 cup of almond milk and bring to a boil.

Once the almond milk has boiled add in 1/2 cup of sugar and turn heat to a low temperature.

Stir the sugar until it has dissolved, then turn off the heat.
